I like Merriam-Webster’s online definition on ‘integrity’ — 1 : firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : incorruptibility.
Is there any of it to be found in the Obama administration? I’m hoping there is, but I doubt it. There are examples which indicate the lack: Lois Lerner, who allegedly oversaw the near total blockage and considerable harassment for tea party groups applying to the IRS for tax exempt status but granted it easily to progressive groups; Eric Holder, the former attorney general who earned himself a Contempt of Congress citation for failing to cooperate with Congress; President Obama, who in several instances sided with black victims over police departments before learning the facts, and who has bypassed Congress by creating regulations that have the effect of law through executive action; and Hillary Clinton, who as secretary of state appears to have dispensed favors after receiving huge donations to the Clinton Foundation or very following lucrative speaking engagements given to her husband.
Now, there is another situation which may test the integrity of the director of the FBI, James Comey, the current attorney general, Loretta Lynch, and President Obama himself. Of course I’m referring to Hillary’s use of her private server for official state department business, which exposes her to possible felony indictment.
According to the news available to the public, and as I understand it, there is ample evidence to warrant that FBI agents assigned to the investigation should recommend to James Comey that Hillary should be indicted for several felony charges.
Last week, even the State Department has said that there were emails in her server with classifications that exceeded Top Secret.
There may be mitigating evidence that the public doesn’t know about, but if the agents recommend indictment, they will be proving their own integrity and Comey’s will be tested. If it’s true that all citizens should be treated equally, regardless of rank, then he will pass the recommendation to Loretta Lynch, and her integrity will be tested. And Barack Obama’s integrity will be tested again, because without doubt he will have final approval.
Will political considerations overpower integrity? So far, in the Obama administration, they always have. Corruption has been the rule.
Yet, some pundits say this will be dangerous for the administration, because the FBI agents don’t want their reputation forever ruined as “the best FBI that political considerations can buy.” James Comey has a reputation of integrity, as does Loretta Lynch. They risk forever sacrificing those reputations. It’s different for Obama – what’s another “in your face” affront to the general public for him? Integrity isn’t his thing.
The possibility of a leak might worry the administration. An FBI agent could resign and write a book about the investigation. If there’s anything the Democrats detest, it’s that someone exposes their dishonesty, hypocrisy, corruption, or lack of integrity.
So far, the administration is saying, through Josh Ernest, that they don’t believe Hilary will be indicted, but Joe Biden might make a more attractive candidate, and Hillary seems to be sinking. It isn’t out of the realm of possibility that Lynch and Obama will intervene and throw her under the bus.
Interesting, isn’t it? Watch the news.
